yes both the computers are using the same type of mouse. they are both optical scroll mouse with PS/2 connector and the X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL is set to "PS/2". i have tried using IMPS/2 as well but no luck. as for the keyboard i am not sure at all what is going on. it works in text mode properly but will not when X starts up [the keyboard is connected via USB]. I am not sure but i think that the client computer gets hung after xdm starts up. is there any way i can check logs [are there any] to see what the problem is?
