I've asked this question on the K12LTSP list and although everyone has been
great, I'm still no closer to the solution, can someone out there help me:

What I have done since then:
-reinstalled
-reinstalled an older version using the kitchen-sink kernel
-swapped the nic, ram, and cpu from a working client

Nothing changed the kernel panic message--help!!
