Hello all,

I've been using Linux 7.0 with LTSP 3 for the year or so. Recently I upgraded my server with the K-12 Linux/Fedora Package. It has the 4.0 LTSP with it. After upgrading my server, I noticed that my Terminals were not loading as quickly as they were with my old configuration. Further testing showed me that the workstation would lock up when trying to run small and large applications (gedit, gimp, and OpenOffice).

I reinstalled the server as a new server (over writing everything) and the problem still exist. I've experimented with the NFS Swap file(disable, increased, and decreased the file). I've also used different XSERVER mode configurations. Nothing seemed to stop the Terminal from locking up or being very slow.

I've also looked through the archives for some key pointers. The things that I've tried still did not work.

Could there be something wrong with the configuration on my server? My terminals were working fine with the Linux 7.0 and LTSP 3.0 configured as 486/66 MHz Compac computers with 8-16 Megs of Ram.

The reason for the upgrade was to mainly use the new GTK+ development programming toolkit.

Your help will be appreciated,
jaf
