I already mentioned in a different post that OO1.1.1 offers faster opening. With OO1.1 delete the following file periodically to open menus faster: /home/USERNAME/.openoffice/user/psprint/pspfontcache or /home/USERNAME/OpenOffice.org1.1/user/psprint/pspfontcache
