Well, not to give any help to the "competition" (even though it's Open
Source as well), you might look at using/modifying PXES
(http://pxes.sourceforge.net).  It does exactly what you are looking for
and is LTSP compatible now.  It even provides a GUI for modifying the
bootup image(s).
