I am in the process of changing my application servers from SuSE to Mandrake
but I still have a /home server based on SuSE which has the work of about 800
users on it so I want to keep it.
However, after installing Mandrake on an application server, setting up NIS
and then mounting /home via NFS, none of my users can log in and this error
message is seen:

/etc/X11/gdm/Xsession at line 4 TMOUT, variable is read only.

It struck me that /home may be mounted read only but this does not appear to
be the case can anyone help please.
regards
garry
