Hi,

.... one of my workstations uses the SIS530/620 chipset with integrated video. I'm using GDM on Redhat 9.0. I get as far as the login screen, but after the login, the screen shows a black rectangle (... looks like it has about the same size as the RedHat logo displayed upon bootup. Or the size of the login prompt window which was in that spot before that ... ) on a light blue background.

Things move no further after that.

The same username/password works fine on another workstation configured yesterday with some really great help from this list. (Thanks. Much appreciated.)

This is the config entry:

[Default]
       SERVER             = 192.168.2.110
       XSERVER            = sis
       X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL   = "PS/2"
       X_MOUSE_DEVICE     = "/dev/psaux"
       X_MOUSE_RESOLUTION = 400
       X_MOUSE_BUTTONS    = 3
       USE_XFS            = N
       SCREEN_01          = startx

Tried setting the XServer to "auto". Same effect.

Robert

P.S. Didn't expect this - the speed of that other LTS client (a P133 with 32MB RAM) is amazing. It seems to be pretty much as fast as using the local keyboard and display on the server. Very impressive.
