I have been using Microsoft Services fo Unix 2.0 for years to host the NFS
files for my ltsp clients. I recently upgraded to SFU 3.5 (Which is a free download.
I think that it is based on GPL software?).
With the new version of SFU, I had a problem with connectivity between my Suse
8.2 server and the Windows NFS server. I could mount the NFS share, but
intermittantly issuing the "ls" command at the root of the NFS share caused my Suse
server to lock up. The Suse server still responded to pings, but did not respond to
mouse, keyboard, or ssh. Meanwhile the Microsoft NFS server continued working as if
nothing had happened. I could not find any errors related to this in
/var/log/messages.
I think that I have resolved this issue by removing the advanced user and
group mappings that I had setup in SFU NFS server (PCNFS). In the security of the NFS
shares, I have checked the checkbox for allow root access. Everything seems to be
working, but I would like to know if anyone has insight into my problem and the
possible resolution. I am still doing something wrong or is there a better way to do
this?
