Remember the big attraction of open-source: you dont need to buy any
licences to try it out. So, if you have a LAN of 100 MS-Windows users,
all you need is 100 floppy boot disks and you have a complete LTSP test
system without changing rebuilding a single PC (ok, so you have to build
a server somewhere, but that's only one box :-)

It's not quite what you're looking for, but I ran an on-line
questionnaire two years ago asking for details of LTSP installations.
The results are on http://ltsp.homelinux.org. Maybe I should run it
again if anyone on the list is interested?

'Performance' also tends to be subjective. I don't know any open-source
equivalent of the Mercury tool set for doing quantitative performance
testing.
