Hello,

I have corrected the syslogd startup and it now starting with -r option
properly

Now netstat -anp |grep 514n shows

udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:514 0.0.0.0:* 3260/syslogd

> No ideas about your portmapper who should'nt be involved.

I did not get this point.

However the previous error has disappeared.

Now my screen hangs after giving out a message as follows.

----------------------------------------------------
rc.sysinit completed, switching to multi session mode

----------------------------------------------------

I am running xdm - nodaemon to start X on server. Is there some problem here.

Regards
T.Ullas
