Peter,
We had this problem:
A thin client (Neoware) would randomly lose communication with the mouse. Keyboard still worked. Switching to away from that screen and back (ctrl-alt f2, ctrl-alt f1) caused the mouse to work again.
The problem was the mice shipped with the Neoware's. They (all 12 of them) are either defective or at least incompatible with LTSP + Redhat 8.0 Xserver.
They are no name black mice with a sticker that says "Wheel 3d Mouse model SWW-25" made in China.
Replacing them with Logitech Optical PS/2 (CDW part# 587139 Enterprise 5pk) IMMEDIATELEY cured the problem. We have not had single lockup on a client with a Logitech mouse.
Hope this helps...
Al
Unfortinally in my case the keyboard and network freezes as well so no luck there.
This is also a well known "Timing" problem with mice. If you happern to have a kvm switch hanging around you can easily freeze the mouse and need to do an X reset to get it back. I've found this to happern with pratically every mouse I've ever met and it even happerns on windows!
I am however going to keep an eye on out mice as I've long known cheap mice cause problems and ours we got free with the thin clients.

I'm sorry to harp on about my Thin Clients but I need a fix, and I feel as though I've tried everything.
I'm thinking that a 2.6 LTSP kernel might help so I'd like to make one up, I've tryed using the instructions for making a 2.4 one but these don't seam to work, I know others have managed it so whats the trick? If a 2.6 kernel fixes my problem (which I some how doult it will)
I don't know wether 2.6 will fix my problems but anything is worth a try.
Oh my thin clients are ST320s from Optomia, Intel Geode Based with 28Mb of memory. The nsc graphics drivers work well and sound works too (sb drivers) They are mean to be the same as the Jammin 125s but have slightly less memory. I've been using Swap over NFS but I also have Swap of NBD working but its also boarderline as to wether the swap is stricktly nessessary unless I start running local apps.
Any ideas would be most helpful. Its not heat related I've had computer freeze at 17C (Server Room) and at 45C (On top of CCTV moniter)
