My distro : Ubuntu (Debian-based), kernel 2.6.10, no local apps.
USB devices are automounted (by hotplug I think) with rights 700 for the
person who is logged locally on the server (that is a workstation too,
here) and an icon appears on the desktop (Gnome).
If I am on the server, I don't have problems to access to USB devices,
but if I am on the client, I can see the icon but don't have the rights
to read/write.
hotplug seems to mount the device with a 'su locally-X-logged-user',
excluding X distant users.
How can I tell him to allow distant access ?
Thanks for yout help

PS: Joe Baker, I'm already in the 'disk' and 'plugdev' groups, no 'usb'
group here.

Depends on your distro and/or configuration. With no local apps this
should be as easy as configuring the system to allow users to mount
that device. With local apps on the other hand a method of sharing
the data over the network has to be used.

server's USB access on clients
Hi all
If I plug a USB removable media on the server, clients don't have
the right to read or write on it. But my clients are too old to
have USB ports, and I'd like to use server's USB port (server and
clients are on the same table).
How can I permit client access to server's USB ?
