Sounds like a couple of problems.
1) ltspcfg is having a hard time figuring out which display manager is
being used on your system. You may need to configure that manually.
do this, to see which display manager (if any) is running:
ps -elf | grep "[gkx]dm"
Once we know which display manager is being used, we can then figure
out how to set it up.
2) The syslog message is nothing to worry about. You can fix it by
finding the config file for syslog or sysklog, and adding a '-r' to
the syslogd options. Take a look in /etc/default or /etc/sysconfig
for a config file.
3) The missing 'zlib.so.1' error indicates you are missing the zlib
library. When you installed LTSP, did you install ALL of the
packages? I'm guessing you missed at least one.
