Hi, Jim
I have 2 MB of SIS 6215 PCI VGA and on another machine i have SIS 620 4 MB onboard VGA and both machines have celeron 400 mhz processor and D-link RTL8139D chipset LAN cards connected with 10/100 Mbps D-link 1008D Switch and another machine which is P3 1.3 with Intel 810E onboard 4 MB VGA works fine with same switch and same LAN card.

Somani K.

Yogesh,

The amount of video ram has very little to do with graphics performance.

You only need to make sure you have enough video ram to handle the
desired resolution and color depth.

if you want 1024x768 with 16-bit color, then here's how you can figure
out how much video ram you need:

    ( 1024 * 768 ) * 2

The answer is 1,572,864 bytes. (the '2' is for the 16-bit color depth).

So, you can see that a 2mb video card will be just fine, and increasing
that to 4mb does nothing for you.

What's more important is the type of video card you have, and the
Xserver that is being used. you want to make sure it's an accelerated
card, and that you are using the proper Xserver, and NOT the 'vesa'
Xserver.

Another important consideration is the NIC in the thin client. You
didn't tell us what kind they are, so we can't tell you if they are fast
enough.

How much RAM in the clients, and how much RAM in the server?

Hi,
My both computers are connected to same 10/100 Mbps 8 Port switch, and also tryied with different switch and different LAN card, but problem is that when i try with Celeron-333 with 2MB, Celeron 600 With 4 MB onboard SIS VGA, still screen lags with 16 bit but when i try with AMD 2200+ with 4 MB onboard 16bit/24bit display it works fine with no problem what is the reason..????
will upgrading to 4 MB PCI vga solve my problem
I am getting same problem with LTSP, Thinstation, Indivisual
Rdesktop, pxes.
