Thought I would give a report... so far everything is working just
great! I did have some mistaken assumptions about ESD... I thought I
had to have the ESD daemon running on the LTSP/MythTV server (and Myth
and ESD competed for ownership of /dev/dsp), but that is NOT the case -
so sound is working great, even better perhaps. Probably the trickiest
part was moving gnome settings over, as well as Moz-Thunderbird and
Evolution profiles. Also, adding the esdsink to gstreamer, and
permissions, took a few minutes.

One funny result - when I run Tuxpaint, the sound for it comes out of
the TV speakers in the next room ;) Unsure if I can redirect that to
ESD - not a huge priority.

Thanks to Jim and Jason for their replies. BTW, I am not using a
terminal as a Myth frontend, just a traditional thin client. My wife
uses Gnome, so it's a little bit more of a memory-hog. On the other
hand, I've been playing with E17... and, the kids will be ready for
their own thin client before too long. I'll be ready.

Regards,
Greg
