John,

LTSP doesn't care what kernel is running on the server. It doesn't matter to the LTSP client.

You'll be able to run any kernel you want on the server, including a 2.4 kernel.

I'd imagine there's still some sites out there running a 2.2 kernel on their server.

Jim,

The new LTSP sounds great. I look forward to it.

Just to be clear, "dropping the 2.4 kernel completely" means for both
client _and_ server, correct?

If so, then the upgrade path is a little more involved for those running
servers with 2.4 kernels. Not that I'm complaining; this will hopefully
give me the kick in the pants I need to upgrade my system.

o 2.6.15 kernel. We'll be dropping the 2.4 kernel completely
because the new stuff we're doing in LTSP-4.2 requires features
