Alfred, even your sound works, you may have to kill esd before using
progams like audacity, gcompris etc.
I use SuSE 9.2 and this works for me.
1. Install MPlayer and nothing else. Install w32* too. Remove all Xine*.
Remove RealPlayer too.
MPlayer can handle all media-types/files.
Edit file "etc/mplayerplug-in.conf"

enable-real=1 <- Edited
enable-wm=1
enable-qt=1
enable-mpeg=1
enable-ogg=1
enable-smil=1
2. Make one soft link for Flash, it might be missing, in SuSE it was
missing.

3. Now Firefox can handle everything with MPlayer plug-in.
4. In SuSE we use KDE, screenshots. KPlayer can't snapshot, so there is
blue area.
