a quick:  lsmod|grep fuse
should tell you.

If not, as root, modprobe fuse.  Also, remember to add "fuse" to the
list of modules loaded when the server reboots, otherwise you may find
this little elusive step eluding you once again.

For debian based systems, adding "fuse" to /etc/modules should do the
trick.
