For me the only way to get this to work was using the USE_NBD_SWAP paramater, en set it to yes.
This solved all video problems for my i810 clients.

Darrin,

Are you saying that anything above 1280x1024 crashes?

Keep in mind that you need to allocate enough video ram to support the resolution and color depth.

With LTSP, the default color depth is 16-bits (2 bytes).
So, for a resolution of 1280x1024, you'd need ((1280 * 1024 ) * 2 ) = 2,621,440 bytes of video ram. That easily fits into the 4096k that I showed.

So, what exactly are you specifying, when it crashes?

thanks for that specifying the videoram worked, however I cant get the
card to drive above 1024x756 resolution and specifying anything above
this in X_MODE_0 = 1280x1024 causes the X server to
fail

thanks Darrin

Darrin,

agpgart is statically linked into the kernel, that's the reason for the failure to load the module.

Although the failure message looks bad, it is harmless.

Eric Harrison found that on some i810 chipsets, the Xserver fails to detect the amount of video ram properly, and that's the reason that the Xserver crashes.

Try adding this line to your lts.conf file:

    X_VIDEORAM = 4096

Also, take out the MODULE_01 line. you don't need that at all.

I'm still looking into the reason why the Xorg 6.8.2 worked fine, but the 6.9.0 driver can't detect the videoram properly.

Hi
I currently have a workstation that has a i810 video card it has 4M of ram I know this because when it boots the kernel detects it but then I get an error that it cant load the module agpgart and therefore the Xwindows doesnt load.

I have put in to the lts.conf MODULE_01 = agpgart and MODULE_01 = agpgart.o (tried both)

but this still doesnt work

I am using the 2.6.16.1-ltsp-2 kernel and the latest ltspadmin

is the agpgart module compiled into the kernel or as a module

I am also having similar troubles with a station with an nvidia video card

have google but turned up no answers that I can understand
