Hmmm....  I _thought_ I saw an earlier reference that
the serial module had been accidentally omitted
briefly from 4.2 but had then been put in.  As far as
I knew, I had to load the serial module (serial.o)
specifically - for example 'MODULE_01=SERIAL' - in my
LTS.CONF file.  However, when I try this, I just get
an error that the module can't be found.  (That's why
I'm trying to find it :) )

If it _IS_ now built into the kernel, it doesn't seem
to see any of my serial mice.  These are on PC's that
were working under version 3.x of LTSP.
