whether it shows '192.168.1.79:0' or 'ws001:0' really doesn't matter to 
the local device system.   There have been some cases in the past, where 
mapping an IP address to a hostname was required.  KDM on Suse seems to 
ring a bell here.  I've also seen cases where mountd (needed by nfs) 
required a hostname.
