You just loaded the ALSA driver.
Try adding this module too. snd-pcm-oss
I think that's the OSS emulator for ALSA.
If that doesn't work, you may have to rebuild arts to support ALSA instead of 
OSS. I used to have it, as the last company I worked for used ALSA, but I 
don't know if they currently have it still.
