Well, on my systems the terminals syslog messages show up in /var/log/messages
on the server with the terminal's name preceding the entry so a:
grep terminalname /var/log/messages
Would get all the entries for that terminal. Other syslog messages will be
directed to other files depending on your syslog.conf settings.
As for the other "*generated*" files, for that you do need to shell out on the
terminal. You can use scp to copy them to the server so you can use the full
range of editors and utilities.
To avoid "misses" in the future, it might help to include more information
about what you have already done and *exactly* what it is you want to do.
