I just noticed some posts here about HP/Compaq Evo T20's - I have been documenting how to install DSL (DamnSmallLinux) on these. The procedure seems to work fine with the devices which were intended for WinNTe. WinXPe is being more stubborn, but I expect that it will be working shortly. The WinCE devices are a mystery to me, thus far.
(The reason that the original OS matters is that the process involves patching the original image file. For the devices I know how to work with, there is no problem installing DSL, leaving no trace of the original OS) I believe they work fine with LTSP - I've only done minimal testing though, as it is not my primary interest. The T30 appears (although I've not actually got one myself) to just be a T20 with more I/O options, so it should be possible to reflash them in the same way as the T20 (just as long as it's not a WinCE model). Installing a PXE bootloader in the T20 is straightforward, but I've not yet documented it. For the things I have documented, I've written scripts to do the work, so it is easy for other people to duplicate the results. Only a few people have tested it so far, but it looks like a repeatable process (that could just be my irrational optimism though :-) Have a look at http://mowson.org/karl Karl. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
