It seems that some on the list are managing large networks with 100 or
so users. How does one manage user accounts and desktop/application
settings for networks of this size?

I know you can use LDAP for account management. My problem is access to
applications, directories and files. How do I prevent a user from
accessing something they shouldn't have access to?

Here's my situation:

    * Edubuntu Feisty Fawn ( it comes with LTSP )
    * 5 thin clients
    * Gnome desktop
    * Custom user settings in /etc/skel

Here's my problem:

    * Tried locking down the desktop
          o gconf-editor
          o locked down the panel
          o killed shell access
    * Edited the menu
          o took out anything the user didn't need

After doing the above and a few extra things I found out that users
still have the ability to change the menu. If you right click on any of
the menus ( try the "Applications" menu ) it gives you the "Edit Menus"
option.

Can someone point me in the right direction? There must be some way of
locking things down.
