On our LTSP-network we are using Jabber (ejabberd daemon) and Kopete for the
clients.

Ejabberd however didn't integrate that well for the init-system and I had to
create a custom init-script in order to have it execute automatically at
boot time. The documentation is really not aimed at new users either, so it
took a while to figure the setup process out. Other than that software
itself runs fine once everything was set up.
