Hi, we use LTSP since several years to power our terminals. We are now at LTSP 4.2 and use VIA Epia Eden VE-5000A boards with a Trident onboard graphics chip.
In general we are very happy with this setup, but now we noticed that performance of Java applications is _very_ slow. We tried with Java Web Start 1.4.2 and Java Web Start 5.0 and while an application we intend to use is barely usable with Java 1.4.2, it is totally unusable with Java 5.0. Our own application, using the Gtk+ toolkit however works flawlessly and quite fast on the same terminals. Are there known issues with Java performance on LTSP in general or on VIA boards or with Trident graphics or whatever? Or is this totally unknown and has to be some problem with our setup? If it is an issue with the boards, which other boards could you recommend that do not have such a problem?
