well, usually cdpinger cares for cdroms of any kind, but apparently
there is a bug we are just examining, using your rules is just a
workaround ...

up to now cdpinger was spawned by the initscripts regardless if a cdrom
exists or not as long as LOCALDEV was set (the default) ... in future
releases it will be spawned only for systems where cdroms exist, there
is some change going on atm ...
