Hello to everbody on this list, I'm joining this list after doing some tests with LTSP on an Ubuntu 8.04 server. I want to use LTSP to boot 10-15 older ThinClient for a classroom at our non-profit vocational training association. Since our budget for IT-stuff is limited and we don't to spent our money for mircosoft licences but our students.
I've setup a Ubuntu Server 8.04 running LTSP (recent version). The Server is working and I can successfully login to the LTSP-Server when booting with PXE-Boot (Tested with IBM Laptops). Unfortunately I can't PXE-Boot from our ThinClients (Fujitsu Siemens Scovery XS (Pentium III, 900Mhz, 256 MB RAM, No HDD) we want to use. The ThinClients are getting an IP from the LTSP-Server but then the boot-process is interrupted with the error message: "BUG: Int 6: CR2 00000000" error [...] followed by a "Stack" error Using Google to check what is says about the above error messages, I got the idea that it has something todo with the kernel versions the LTSP server is sending to its clients (?) Some kernel versions doesn't work with older hardware, - do you think that this might be the case here? - Do you have an idea how to tell LTSP to use a kernel that older hardware like my Scovery XS clients are able to pxe-boot from? -Has someone successfully booted Fujitsu Siemens Scovery XS-Client with PXE/LTSP? Any hints would be great, since I think Ubuntu + LTSP is very suited for our situation. Best regards and thanks for your help. - Phil ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF.net email is sponsored by: SourcForge Community SourceForge wants to tell your story. http://p.sf.net/sfu/sf-spreadtheword _____________________________________________________________________ Ltsp-discuss mailing list.
