Bob,
I would say that your observations are correct. The Screensaver is the
culprit. We experienced this last spring when setting up LTSP on Ubuntu 8.04
When I asked about it I was told that you do not want to run a Screensaver
in a Thin Client production environment, which I agree with. The problem I
had with that is the screensaver could emulate other high traffic situations
like streaming video/audio to the thin client. I was hoping to use this as a
test to determine if my network was robust enough to handle what the users
could throw at it.
When we disabled the screensaver we saw the problem disappear. As a side
note when we were testing we noticed a similar CPU occurrence while running
xnest sessions to the LTSP server. I do not remember now if it was before or
after the screensaver was disabled.

Thanks,
Job

Subject: Re: [Ltsp-discuss] logged in terminal hangs server display

Daughter's user account on terminal. My user account on server (my
computer.) I have had the hanging issue happen when I am not logged in.
But, appears to be fine with screen saver disabled.

So, I could be wrong but, I still think it has something to do with the
screen saver.
