Hi I'm currently testing an Ubuntu 10.04 based LTSP against our group of client hardware.
Our high end clients works without a problem (provided one changes the eggplant colored background and chooses some 'better' window decorations) So I'm currently testing a middle ground client, a Fujutsu/Siemens Scenic xS. It works fine with our curernt LTSP 4.2, where it needs the nv video driver. Using the Ubuntu 10.04 based LTSP client, the client is having some trouble detecting the right settings for the client I'm testing, so X will not start automatically. I need to do some configuration in lts.conf (i.e. in /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/lts/conf) But that has no effect at all. So I'm thinking the the client software is not reading lts.conf. Contents of my lts.conf [Default] XSERVER = nv # LDM_DIRECTX = True X_RAMPERC = 85 X_HORZSYNC = 30.0-80.0 X_VERTREFRESH = 55.0-75.0 DNS_SERVER = 10.10.1.11 XSERVER = nv USE_XFS = N # SCREEN_01 = startx SCREEN_01 = shell X_MODE_0 = 1280x1024 X_COLOR_DEPTH = 16 SEARCH_DOMAIN = imf.au.dk X_VIDEORAM = 65536 (at the moment I just want a shell to appear, but it does not, it tries to start X, something happens and my monitor looses the connection with the client). How do I debug this? I have installed ssh in the chroot, and after the client is booted I can ssh to it without problems. I have to mention that we do not use the DHCP server provided by the Ubuntu server but rather option root-path "10.10.3.111:/opt/ltsp/i386"; filename "/ltsp/i386/pxelinux.0"; next-server 10.10.3.111; on the DHCP server (just if this might be relevant to the problem) -- /daleif ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ThinkGeek and WIRED's GeekDad team up for the Ultimate GeekDad Father's Day Giveaway.
