I don't think so (so, you should probably do fat clients in your
case). If I understand right, your clients are just as powerfull as
the intended servers (same machines, right ?).

So you should probably not divide the server power between clients
which are themselves as powerfull : you will waste clients ressources
in this case.

By doing fat clients, you still benefit from the centralized setup
that LTSP provide (only one installation for whatever clients you
have).

A Gigabit one (with at least 20 ports). I like Netgear switches, but
the brand should not matter.

I don't know.

Basicaly, you should try to get enterprise class SSD (SLC vs. MLC).
Intel's ones have good reputation in the past, but I don't know if
it's still true.
