Hello everyone, Is there anyone using Ubuntu 12.10 on hardware that has a VIA display chipset and uses the openchrome driver? We've been testing our updated LTSP systems and it seems like the driver has some weird bug on 16 bit displays on the hardware we're using. The screen turns mostly green when 16bit screen depth is used, but 24bit mode works without problems. On Ubuntu 12.04 the bug doesn't appear. The 24bit is of course really slow on LTSP thin clients.
I couldn't find other bug reports about the issue, so this must not be too widespread.. There are more details in the bug report in Launchpad: Green screen with color depth of 16 bits https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-openchrome/+bug/1097732 Happy hacking!
