It's been a while, but just to let you know that recognition for CTF channel files and packetized/text metadata files by file(1) is now pushed upstream <https://github.com/glensc/file/commit/3f14f9740c436c556d785e18572da3f154bf986a>. It should be part of the next release, which could be in a while, but still.
