Greetings,

There is a new rockspec at:
  http://www.pjb.com.au/comp/lua/datadumper-1.0-0.rockspec

Doc: http://lua-users.org/wiki/DataDumper
Tarball: http://www.pjb.com.au/comp/lua/DataDumper-1.0.tar.gz

We were talking about this back in October...
In putting it together as a rockspec I wrote a test script, and
discovered that there's one thing which doesn't work in 5.2; dumping
a function without fastmode set fails on 5.2 :-( In this mode, it
recurses all the way up looking for closures but seems to crash
when it gets to _G with an "unable to dump given function" message.
I tried to understand the code but got brain-overload :-(
and tried to contact Patrick Rapin but without success.

Yet I still think it's worth installing under 5.2, because I've
been using it for years but never had to dump a function.
It's used for example by my midisox:
  http://www.pjb.com.au/midi/midisox.html
Therefore I've given:
  "lua >= 5.1"
Is that permissible ? What's the right thing to do here ?

Happy New Year :-)
Peter Billam

(P.S. Of course a fix would solve the problem... )
