Hi everyone,

in the LuaTeX Reference Manual (1.21 stable, Feb 2025) one finds the following
text in Sec. 8.4.6, “late_lua” (from
<https://gitlab.lisn.upsaclay.fr/texlive/luatex/-/blob/2c8bdd08a0647fd00ad0ff251b3ffe9ee03a9547/manual/luatex-nodes.tex>,
 l. 890 ff.):
---
The difference between \type {data} and \type {string} is that on assignment,
the
\type {data} field is converted to a token list, cf.\ use as \lpr {latelua}. The
\type {string} version is treated as a literal string.
---

I am struggling to understand that paragraph. Could it be that “\type {token}”
should be written here instead of “\type {string}”? Could please someone
clarify?

Regards,

-Moss-
