This is an interesting story about how a Linux Beowulf cluster make it much easier for a researcher to do supercomputer work in order to simulate ways of hearts failing, helping to understand heart diseases and hopefully find new treatments in the future. It starts with an explanation of certain types of heart failure, going into supercomputer modeling of heart cells, and the tremendous cost savings of Linux Beowulf supercomputer clusters.
