Wanye is right about the Linux/Unix Desktops having advantages.

We run XFCE as the desktop on our Unix and Linux boxes here. About three
years now. I have Spreadsheets, data bases, word processing, email, web
browsing, webserving and webpage design all on Linux and FreeBSD Unix
using the XFCE desktop.

Everything we need works fine for our purpose. And we don't get the M$
Blue screen of death.
