Yay! People are actually writing in the Wiki. I had given up a while ago. One correction: sgi_fam sgi-fam is a security-related daemon that can monitor system file integrity and network access attempts. I've never tried to configure it, and I don't know of any compelling arguements for or against it. I don't think sgi-fam is about security. I think it is used by applications like Nautilus or kfmclient to know when files change, so they can instantly update the view rather than needing a refresh. I could be wrong though. I used to turn off xinetd completely on desktops/workstations, but I now keep it enabled only for sgi_fam. Warren Togami [EMAIL PROTECTED]
