Suggestions: 1) install ati-driver (however, it doesn't work for me - ATI Radeon hd 4670) 2) open /etc/X11/xorg.conf and edit it: change Option "ActiveDevice" to "LCD,CRT" (you can do it from recovery mode typing "nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf"). It is not a bug of Lubuntu. Currently, it is a bug of Lucid and will be solved in the future.
Best wishes, Michael.
