I think that is good idea to subscribe to ubuntu geek. Here are 2 articles about problems with nvidia cards on ubuntu 10.04. Check them: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/howto-install-nvidia-drivers-manually-on-ubuntu-10-04-lucid-lynx.html and http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-fix-ubuntu-10-04-lts-lucid-blank-screen-at-startup.html. They were very useful for me cause I had GT 240 card and this helped me. Hope, it will help you too.
