Hi Lee, You could use lxshortcut.
In terminal, you go to your desktop folder. Run this command: lxshortcut -o application_name.desktop (Of course you will want to change "application_name" to something else). A dialog will appear and you can choose the name or the icon, set the path to the file... I hope we will have a right click function on desktop like in Xubuntu soon.
