There is a test written for "Check disc for defects" here:

http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/243/builds/41187/testcases/1447/results

But a lot of it is wrong I think ........... I'm pretty sure that's a 'casper'
bug ;^)

HOOHAA :D
Finally, the installation of raring-desktop-i386 from the LiveUSB created by
Startup Disk Creator was done successfully :D
However, the same issue has occurred again. Whenever I want to check disc for
errors, it just sits there on the 5 dots with Lubuntu Logo, that is all.

I decided to give it ONE last chance before I totally give up from the desktop
image and it didn't let me down :D
So, I have two successful installations now, one for the desktop image and the
other for the alternate. I'm going to play with the un-official PPA for Lubuntu
(https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-dev/+archive/non-official-apps?field.series_filter=raring)
and try to produce some bugs/errors as much as possible but that would be for
Round 3 and tomorrow :D

Thank you!
P.S.Do we have to report the issue as a bug? I mean "check disc for errors"
never worked on the desktop image?!

Hi Ali,
I cannot spend too much time on this tonight as I have to sort out piglet being
able to connect to a projector for my qa/testing session tomorrow. If piglet is
quite happy connecting to an external monitor system, then I'll have a play
with my i386-desktop ISO and see how it behaves. I can only do this by VM, as
piglet is a fully fledged fledged AMD Turon dual core machine.

Phill.

I think it is better to edit the subject and forward my last email about it
since the first email and this one on the same ISO (raring-desktop-i386).

1- I have created a LiveUSB using the 'dd' method.
2- I have tried to boot my test laptop from that LiveUSB3- Checked disc for
errors4- My machine was sitting and waiting on Lubuntu Logo with the dark navy
wallpaper and the 5 dots
5- Re-checked md5sum for the downloaded ISO (raring-desktop-i386)6- Re-created
the LiveUSB using 'dd' method7- Went to have my dinner and came back after more
than one hour
8- BAD NEWS, the machine is still doing nothing but the 5 dots with the logo
So, this time, the installation is not even done. I can't even see the live
desktop.Last time, at least I was able to install but then couldn't login to
the desktop. Now, nothing :D

Installing Lubuntu 13.04 beta 2 from raring-alternate-i386 was done
successfully using the 'dd' method to create the LiveUSB.

So, your thoughts are more than welcome as I'm stuck and not sure what to do?
One may ask why I'm checking the disc for errors and not go ahead and
install?The answer is:

If the tool to check the disc for errors does not work, how would I expect the
installation to work? And I won't waste my time yet again to install then get
the same result or even worse :)

Thanks!

Hi,
I have written everything on my blog with screenshots so there you go:
http://amjjawad.blogspot.com/2013/04/testing-lubuntu-1304-report-1.html

I hate the same issue previously with the daily image of 18-3-2013 but that was
on Beta1 stage. We are now on Beta2 :(
Lance gave me this link previously:

http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/ubuntu-initrd-bug.html
That didn't help previously to fix the issue.

I'm OUT of idea because this is the first time I have a failure installation :(
Thank you!
P.S.Yes, this is a very fresh new installation.

Also note: Lubuntu 12.10 is installed on that very machine and it is my main OS.
