Hi,
I have personally found that the issue is actually the xorg
configuration file.
http://mac.linux.be/content/xorgconf-files
simply find the right one, download it save it as

/etc/X11/xorg.conf

then simply restart X but stopping, and starting lightdm

sudo stop lightdm
sudo start lightdm

viola non-psychadelic graphics!
