Hi Aere,

So it is Intel graphics.

Have you tried text mode? Tried to 'dumb down' the graphics as much as possible during boot? Can you get to a text screen somehow? And in text screen mode you can tweak it.

- There are a few ideas to test
. xserver-xorg-video-inte
. UXA acceleration
. various boot options, start with nomodeset

But if still no luck, I guess that machine (or at least that graphics chip) has passed 'end of life'.

Best regards

Nio:

According to the information below, Xubuntu 16.04 should work on that
machine (933 megahertz, i815 graphics, 512 meg RAM).

However, Xubuntu 16.04 also boots to a blank screen on that machine, so
I doubt the change you requested to try will work.

Lubuntu 15.04 and Xubuntu 15.04 are the last systems to work on that
machine. The 15.10 live USB's booted to a blank screen on that machine,
so I didn't attempt to install 15.10 (either Lubuntu or Xubuntu).

Where 16.04 (Lubuntu and Xubuntu) live USB systems also booted to a
blank screen, there was no point in installing those systems either.

Hi everybody,

We have a workaround for old Intel graphics from our main developer.

Please try it and give him feedback :-)

Hi,

Looks like we may have a problem with Intel users after all.

I checked the difference between xubuntu and lubuntu ISO, and this
package is missing :

xserver-xorg-video-intel

Intel cards was supposed to work without this package, but according
to the package description, it is only the case for new cards.

If you have people affected by black screen, or no X starting, or no
lightdm starting, with Intel card, could you advise them to install
this package, reboot, and see if it's working (and report back) ?

This should affect only fresh install, upgrade should be fine (as this
package was included in previous releases).

Thanks in advance for your reports.

Regards,
Julien Lavergne
