Digy commented on LUCENENET-113:
--------------------------------
UnauthorizedAccessException means that another process is using your file(or
you have no enough right to open that file). This is not a bug of Windows or
Lucene, it is an default behaviour of all operating systems.
I think, it is not a preferred case to hide an error reported by the OS in
libraries like Lucene if it can not handle it.
Think of a case where your disk is full and AddDocument tries to throw an
exception. Which one is better, hiding the exception in Lucene or passing it to
the application?

> When updating an index via an indexwriter, does cause an access denied for
> segments.gen.
> After investigation with FileMon the problem seems to be Lucene deleting and
> creating the segments.gen with such a speed, that Windows occasionally
> reports "DELETE PEND" when trying to open the file, which causes Lucene to
> crash.
> A quick fix has been to do a try-catch when adding documents, and sleeping
> the thread for 100 ms when encountering the UnathorizedException and trying
> to add the document again.
