The one I found most instructive is the one for Automator. Basically Apple has taken cron, added to it the fact that you can script most OSX applications, and come up with something I haven't seen done yet. This means you can not only schedule backups but also schedule rich emails, work orders, etc. One would expect that this is all scriptable using Applescript (as most OSX apps are). Tres innovative.
