Mr. Lule:

I don't use SuSE or your particular router, so take this with that in
mind.  You mentioned that you set up both interfaces statically.  The
problem could be that eth1 (the one on the router side) could be on a
different subnet from that expected by the router.  Try making the
router a DHCP server (if it has that capability) and let eth1 get its ip
number/ subnet from the router.  I don't how you do that in Yast, but in
plain linux it is something like: iface eth1 inet dhcp     in
/etc/network/interfaces or similar

Failing that, are there any hardware resource conflicts?  I.e is there
any problems logged at bootup /var/log/boot, /var/log/dmesg?  Lest there
is a problem with the particular card drivers can you also post the
relevant entries in lsmod?

The working one is onboard. Compaq NC7760 Gigabit server adapter.
I wouldn't think it would be possible to get a similar working one 
separately.
