But the OS ( read kernel) has to recognize and support the RAID controller otherwise the Disks will NOT be seen. Anyway usually in these cases I hit abort in the installation and then choose manual installation using the old yast way and load the particular modules that I need. Some of these modules are not loaded by default for example I remember vaguely in 6.4 the initio RAID controller needed the module to be loaded specifically in order to be recognised.
