For Wire: If I still had to dual-boot I'd probably have run mad by now. Hated it. There is a solution that seems to work: VMware. It requires beef though, but those who use it in my office seem particularly happy with it.

actually, openoffice is not bad - its is very good. main reason it is very
good compared to M$Office is coz its free. the other reasons of course can
be enumerated by a professional reviewer, but it generally is OK with
spreadsheets. I like the calc.
however, my experience with Impress is a very bad one! each and every
single presentation that i receive that has been made using MSOffice, it
gets completely messed up by OpenOffice! either the fonts change, or ..
something goes wrong!
word documents - same story. i always never get to comment a document with
my colleagues using OpenOffice, they complained that i completely mess up
my documents.
Surprisingly enough, i purchased StarOffice expecting a difference. Ask me
how dissapointed i was :-)
I have been enumerating my experiences in the procurement newspaper on the use of OOo. Please see last week's article on the following link:

looks good. i agree with you on Calc. spreadsheets are just spreadsheets,
and calc is just as good as excel.
Forgive the poor writing skills :) Just trying to hone my skills as a columnist.
indeed, you might want to consider the presentation of the content to suit
a layman :-) its good though. i didnt know that you write!
